Hudson's Adventure Island III is one of those NES platformers that starts with a classic setup—your girlfriend gets snatched by a UFO, and suddenly you're running through jungles and caves with a bunch of dinosaurs backing you up. It's got that weird, early '90s charm where everything feels just a little offbeat, like why are there dinosaurs here? But hey, they help, so roll with it.
The gameplay's faster than the first two games, and you can actually hold onto weapons now instead of losing them after one hit. The dinosaur buddies add some variety—some let you fly, others smash through obstacles, and a couple just look cool while they stomp enemies. The levels get pretty wild, too, with hidden warp zones and sudden weather changes that keep you on your toes.
It's not the hardest game in the series, but the controls are tight, and the music's got that classic Hudson synth sound. If you're into retro platformers with a little extra quirk, this one's a solid pick.
