About Gryzor (japan)
I first played Gryzor on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1988. It was a Konami release, and it fit right in with the tough, action-heavy games that were common on the NES at the time. You control a lone soldier, Bill Rizer, who is sent to destroy an alien base. The game is a side-scrolling run and gun, where you move from left to right, shooting everything that moves.
Your main goal is to survive through eight stages, each with its own theme, like jungles, waterfalls, and the alien hive itself. You control Bill directly, running, jumping, and firing in eight directions. The signature mechanics are the power-up system, where you collect floating capsules to upgrade your weapon, and the famous spread gun that fires in five directions. The game is known for its high difficulty; you have a limited number of lives and continues, and enemy fire comes from all directions. Playing Gryzor feels tense and demanding, requiring quick reflexes and memorization of enemy patterns to succeed.
