GTA 2 on Game Boy Color is a weird little time capsule—it’s the last 2D GTA before the series went full 3D, and honestly, it’s kind of a mess in the best way. You’ve still got that top-down chaos where you steal cars, run over pedestrians (who somehow sound even more ridiculous in 8-bit), and take jobs from crime syndicates. The controls are janky as hell on a GBC, but there’s something charming about how over-the-top it is for a handheld game from 1999.
Don’t expect the depth of later GTAs—missions are simple "go here, shoot that" affairs, and the map feels tiny compared to what came after. But if you’re into retro weirdness or just want to see how Rockstar’s formula worked before they had polygons, it’s a fun curiosity. Just don’t blame me when you keep crashing into walls because the turning physics are borderline cruel.
