Okay, so The Goonies on NES is one of those licensed games that actually gets the vibe right—you play as Mikey, dodging traps and punching through the Fratellis' hideout to rescue your friends. It's got that classic 8-bit platforming feel where you're jumping between ropes and ladders, but with this weirdly satisfying punch mechanic. Like, you'd think you'd just avoid enemies, but nah, you can deck them in the face.
Some rooms are straight-up mazes, and the music? Total earworm. The controls take a sec to get used to—especially the way you swing between ropes—but once it clicks, it's weirdly addictive. Also, good luck finding Annie without a guide; kid me got lost for hours in those caves.
It's short, kinda janky in that old-school way, but if you grew up with the movie, it's a nostalgia trip worth playing.
