About Flight Of The Intruder
Flight of the Intruder came out for the NES in 1991, developed by Imagineering Inc. It was part of that wave of licensed games based on movies, in this case the naval aviation film, and it fit right in with the other action titles crowding the platform at the time.
You pilot an A-6 Intruder attack aircraft from a top-down perspective. Your main job is to complete bombing runs over enemy territory, navigating through anti-aircraft fire and enemy fighters. The gameplay shifts between an overhead map for navigation and side-scrolling action segments for bombing targets and dogfighting. You manage your fuel and weapons carefully, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as enemy defenses become more dense. It feels like a tense, methodical mission where a single mistake can end your run.
