Final Set Tennis on SNES is one of those games that looks simple at first—just a couple of pixels swinging rackets—but once you start playing, it’s surprisingly tense. The controls are smooth, and timing your shots actually matters, which I didn’t expect from a 16-bit tennis game. You can slice, lob, or smash, and the AI isn’t a pushover—miss a step, and they’ll punish you for it.
Graphics are bright and clean, with a nice little zoom-in effect when you’re close to the net. The sound effects are satisfying too, especially that crisp *pop* when you nail a perfect serve. Playing against a friend is where it really shines, though. Matches get stupidly competitive, especially when someone starts spamming drop shots just to be annoying.
It’s not as deep as modern tennis sims, but for a quick, arcade-style match, it holds up way better than it should. Just don’t blame me when you start yelling at the screen after losing a tiebreaker.
