Final Fantasy USA: Mystic Quest was Square's attempt to make an RPG for beginners—and yeah, it shows. No random battles (you see enemies on the map), no complicated party management, and you can save anywhere. It’s stripped down, almost to a fault if you’re used to deeper FF games.

The story’s about as basic as it gets: you’re the chosen hero, crystals are in trouble, go hit things with your sword. The combat’s snappy though, and the soundtrack slaps—some of those battle themes go harder than they needed to. If you’re new to RPGs or just want something breezy, it’s not a bad time. Just don’t expect the usual Final Fantasy depth.

Honestly, I had fun with it back in the day, but it’s more of a curiosity now than a must-play.
