Okay, so this is technically Final Fantasy VI—the one we got as "III" in the West back in the SNES days. Zeemis' hack tweaks some stuff, but the core game? Still one of the best RPGs ever made. You start with Terra, this amnesiac girl with weird magic powers, and things spiral fast—airship heists, rebel uprisings, and Kefka being the most unhinged villain in FF history (dude literally laughs while poisoning kingdoms).
The party system is wild—you’ve got like 14 characters, each with unique abilities. Sabin suplexes trains. Shadow’s dog helps in battle. I spent way too long figuring out Edgar’s tools before realizing Setzer’s dice were secretly OP. And the soundtrack? Uematsu’s peak. That opera scene still gives me chills.
Zeemis’ version tweaks some mechanics—spells are rebalanced, a few glitches fixed—but it’s still the same sprawling, melancholic adventure. Just expect to grind a bit less. If you’ve never played VI, this is a solid way to do it.
