Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy is one of those classic NES platformers that feels like a weird, charming little puzzle box. You play as Dizzy, this egg-shaped hero who rolls and jumps through colorful levels, picking up items and figuring out how to use them in just the right way. At first glance, it seems simple—until you realize half the stuff in your inventory actually interacts with the environment in ways you wouldn’t expect.
The controls take a second to get used to—Dizzy’s momentum can be a bit slippery, especially when you’re trying to land precise jumps. But once it clicks, there’s something satisfying about bouncing between platforms and solving those old-school adventure game logic puzzles. The music’s catchy too, in that early ‘90s chiptune way.
It’s not the most polished NES game out there, but there’s a lot of personality packed into those tiny sprites. If you like games where you poke at everything until the solution clicks, this one’s got that in spades.
