DuckTales 2 on NES feels like slipping back into a comfy pair of shoes—same great cane-bouncing action as the first game, but now you don’t have to mash down+B to pull off those satisfying pogo jumps. Just hold B and go. Small tweak, but it makes a difference when you’re hopping over spikes for the umpteenth time.
This time around, levels aren’t one-and-done—you can revisit them to scoop up extra cash or hunt for hidden upgrades. Gyro Gearloose hooks you up with cane mods that unlock new paths, and there’s always something tucked away in a corner you couldn’t reach before. The shop’s handy for stocking up on health or lives, assuming you didn’t blow all your money falling into bottomless pits (again).
Each stage hides a piece of a map, and while you don’t need them to beat the game, tracking down all five unlocks a secret sixth level with the real prize: McDuck’s legendary treasure. It’s the kind of bonus that makes you scour every pixel—just in case.
