Duck Tales 2 on the NES is one of those sequels that actually improves on the original—which is saying something, because the first game was already a banger. You’re back as Scrooge McDuck, bouncing around on your cane like some kind of wealthy, feathery pogo stick, hunting treasure across new levels that feel way more polished than before.
The Japan version has a few quirks, like slightly different sprites and text, but the core gameplay is the same: tight platforming, hidden secrets everywhere, and that ridiculously catchy Moon theme remix. I spent way too long trying to find all the hidden diamonds in the first stage alone—some are tucked behind breakable walls, others require perfect cane jumps. It’s the kind of game where you’ll replay levels just to see what you missed.
If you’re into retro platformers, this one holds up surprisingly well. The controls are snappy, the music slaps, and there’s just enough challenge to keep you from breezing through it in one sitting. Definitely worth a play if you missed it back in the day.
