Double Dragon on Game Boy is exactly what you'd hope for—a stripped-down but still satisfying version of the arcade brawler. You pick Billy or Jimmy (or swap mid-game if you're playing co-op) and punch, kick, and elbow your way through alleys and warehouses full of goons. The controls are simple—A jumps, B attacks—but timing matters, especially when you're trying to land that spinning backfist.
It's impressive how much they crammed into the tiny cartridge. The music’s got that classic Double Dragon riff, the sprites are chunky but readable, and the levels feel just long enough before you hit the next boss. That first time you accidentally throw an enemy off a rooftop? Still weirdly satisfying.
Sure, it’s not as flashy as the arcade original, but there’s something about playing it on a dim Game Boy screen that makes it feel even more like a late-night grind. Just don’t expect Marian to thank you properly at the end.
