Dodge Ball on Game Boy is one of those simple-but-surprisingly-deep sports games that just works. You start off thinking it's just about chucking balls at pixelated kids, but after a few matches, you realize there's actual strategy—timing your throws, baiting opponents into bad dodges, and controlling the court.

The controls are stupidly easy (A to throw, B to jump/dodge), but the AI actually puts up a decent fight once you get past the first couple matches. I remember getting cocky against the early opponents, then getting absolutely wrecked by the later ones when they start faking throws and anticipating your moves.

Best part? The two-player mode. If you've got a buddy with a link cable, the chaos of real human unpredictability makes it way more fun than the single-player. Just don't throw your Game Boy when you lose—those things aren't as durable as they look.

It's aged better than most Game Boy sports titles, mostly because the core idea is so solid. Still holds up if you're into quick, arcadey competition.
