I remember playing Darkwing Duck on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1992. It was a Capcom release, one of many solid platformers they put out for the NES during that era. You control Darkwing Duck himself, moving through levels screen by screen to stop the villainous F.O.W.L. syndicate. Your main tool is a gas gun that shoots projectiles; you can aim in multiple directions, which is crucial for hitting enemies above or below you. You also find a grappling hook to reach higher platforms, adding a bit of vertical exploration to the straightforward running and jumping. The levels are fairly linear, but the enemy placement and platforming challenges keep you on your toes. It has that classic Capcom difficulty, where you need to learn patterns and manage your jumps carefully. Playing it feels like a brisk, action-packed cartoon episode where you are always one step ahead of the next ambush.
