DJ Boy is one of those weird, charming Genesis beat-'em-ups that somehow makes roller-skating vigilantes feel totally natural. You're this neon-soaked DJ who literally fights crime on wheels—kicking gang members mid-grind while an absurdly funky soundtrack blares in the background. The first level throws you right into it: dodging trash cans, sliding under pipes, and punching out guys in sunglasses who clearly didn't get the memo that this is a dance battle.
What I love is how unapologetically 90s it is—the sprites have that chunky, exaggerated style, and the backgrounds are all graffiti and palm trees. The controls take a second to click (you’ll eat pavement a few times before nailing the timing), but once you get the rhythm down, pulling off a spinning kick into a crowd never gets old. Just don’t expect deep combat—this is pure arcade chaos with a side of cheese.
It’s short, it’s janky in places, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The soundtrack alone makes it worth a play.
