Captain Commando on SNES is one of those classic Capcom beat 'em ups that just oozes early '90s arcade energy. You pick between four weirdly cool characters—Captain Commando himself, a ninja baby in a mech suit, a mummy, and some alien-looking dude—and then just start punching your way through waves of neon-colored thugs. The first stage throws you right into a city street full of goons, and within seconds you're juggling enemies with jump kicks and unleashing screen-clearing special moves.
What I love is how over-the-top everything feels—you'll fight mutant bikers, dodge flamethrowers, and even take on a guy who looks like a rejected Power Rangers villain. The controls are simple (this was an arcade port, after all), but there's something satisfying about chaining together combos while your character yells ridiculous one-liners. Just don't expect deep storytelling—half the fun is how absurd it all is.
It's not the most balanced brawler out there (some characters feel way stronger than others), but the sheer personality makes up for it. Perfect for when you just want to smash buttons with a friend on a lazy afternoon.
