Bucky O'Hare is one of those NES gems that slipped under the radar—probably because it came out late in the console's life. If you've played Mega Man, the setup feels familiar: you pick stages in any order, each with its own gimmick, and beat bosses to steal their abilities. But here, you're a green space rabbit leading a crew of weird animal rebels against toad aliens (yeah, it's as bizarre as it sounds).
The controls are tight, the music slaps, and the sprite work is pure Konami—bright, detailed, and full of personality. Some of those later levels get brutal, though. That frog boss? Took me way too many tries to figure out. Still, it's the kind of game where even when you're frustrated, you keep coming back because nailing a tough section feels so good.
Honestly, it's a shame more people don't know about this one.
