About Boulder Dash
Boulder Dash came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, published by First Star Software. It was part of that wave of games where you got a simple concept and then had to really work to master it, fitting right in with the NES library of the time.
You control a little guy named Rockford, digging through dirt to collect a set number of gems on each screen so you can open the exit. The main thing is that you have to be careful where you dig, because if you loosen a boulder from above it will fall, and it can crush you or block your path. You also have to watch out for enemies like fireflies and butterflies that follow set patterns. The game moves at a steady pace, but the pressure builds because you're always working against a timer. It feels tense and satisfying when you clear a tricky cave without getting squashed.
