Bomberman Quest is one of those weird little Game Boy Color spin-offs where they decided to shake up the formula—instead of just maze bombing, you're running around an overworld hunting down escaped monsters. Feels like a mix of classic Bomberman and a light RPG, with towns to explore and NPCs giving you hints about where those pesky creatures ran off to.
You still plant bombs to clear paths and fight enemies, but now there's this whole adventure layer on top. The first time I played, I got stuck for way too long because I didn’t realize some bushes could be blown up to reveal hidden caves. Classic Bomberman move, but my dumb brain didn’t connect the dots right away.
It’s got that janky early GBC charm—the sprites are tiny, the translation’s a bit rough, but there’s something oddly satisfying about tracking down every last monster. Not the deepest game, but a fun detour if you’re into retro oddities.
