Bomberman Max - Ain Version was one of those weird GBC exclusives that never made it outside Japan. It's classic Bomberman at its core—drop bombs, blow up walls, and trap your friends in explosions—but with this weird elemental twist where you collect little elemental creatures called Charaboms.
At first I thought the Charabom system was just a gimmick, but some of them actually change how you play. The fire ones make your bombs stronger, water lets you drop them faster, and there’s even one that turns explosions into ice traps. The single-player mode’s got this weird story about Bomberman rescuing Charaboms from an evil force, but let’s be real—you’re here for the multiplayer chaos.
It’s janky in that classic early handheld way, but if you’ve got a buddy and a link cable (or an emulator with netplay), it’s still stupidly fun to blow each other up.
