Bomberman Quest on Game Boy Color is one of those weird little spin-offs where they tried something different—instead of just arena battles, you’ve got this adventure mode with actual levels to explore. You’re still dropping bombs to clear paths and take out enemies, but now there’s keys to find, hidden rooms, and even some light RPG elements like upgrading your gear.
The pixel art’s super charming, and the music’s got that classic Bomberman vibe. Some of the later puzzles get surprisingly tricky—I remember getting stuck in this one ice dungeon for way too long because I kept missing a hidden switch. Boss fights are a highlight, though. That giant robot spider still gives me flashbacks.
It’s not as polished as the mainline games, but there’s something oddly satisfying about methodically bombing your way through each maze-like stage. If you’re into retro stuff with a mix of action and puzzle-solving, this one’s worth digging up.
