Blue Marlin takes the fishing mechanics from Black Bass and throws you into the open ocean—which honestly makes everything way more intense. Instead of casting into some sleepy lake, you're reeling in massive tuna and marlin while waves rock your boat. The physics feel weightier, like you're actually fighting against something alive.
It hit Japan first, and when it finally made it to the US in '91, it was one of those NES games that didn’t get enough love. The controls take a minute to get used to—you’ll lose a few fish before figuring out the rhythm—but once it clicks, there’s something weirdly satisfying about outlasting a stubborn swordfish. Just don’t expect a relaxing day at sea.
