Bio-Hazard Battle is one of those Genesis shooters that sticks with you—mostly because everything looks like it crawled out of a nightmare. You pilot this weird organic ship through levels packed with pulsating alien guts, mutant creatures, and bosses that look like failed lab experiments. The first stage alone throws swarms of enemies at you while the soundtrack hits this eerie, synth-heavy vibe that just works.
What’s cool is you can switch between four different bio-ships, each with its own attack style. I kept going back to the red one—its spread shot saved me more times than I’d like to admit. The difficulty ramps up fast, though. By level 3, you’re weaving through bullet-hell patterns while some multi-eyed monstrosity fills the screen. It’s brutal, but in that satisfying "one-more-try" way.
If you’re into retro shooters with a creepy, fleshy aesthetic, this one’s a hidden gem. Just don’t blame me when you start seeing those enemy designs in your sleep.
