Big Nose the Caveman came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, developed by a company called Camelot Software Planning. It was one of those many side-scrolling platformers that filled the NES library, a game about a prehistoric character trying to survive in a world of dinosaurs and primitive hazards.

You control Big Nose himself, a caveman armed with a bone club. Your main goal is to rescue your kidnapped cavewoman by fighting through six different worlds, each with its own theme. The game plays screen by screen; you move from one static section to the next, clearing out enemies like pterodactyls and cavemen before you can proceed. You use your club to attack, and you can also find a bow and arrow for ranged combat. Collecting bones scattered around the levels lets you play a bonus game for extra lives. The pacing is fairly quick, and the difficulty ramps up steadily with tricky jumps and enemy placements. It feels like a straightforward, sometimes punishing run through a cartoon version of the stone age.
