About Battletoads Double Dragon
I first played Battletoads Double Dragon on my Game Boy in 1993. It was developed by Rare and published by Tradewest, a team-up that felt like a big deal for a handheld game at the time. This was when portable games were mostly simpler affairs, so getting a full beat 'em up with two franchises crossing over was a real novelty.
You control one of the Battletoads or the Double Dragon brothers, fighting through waves of the Dark Queen's soldiers. Your main goal is to stop her from launching a super weapon. You move screen by screen, clearing each area of enemies before you can proceed. The combat is the focus; you punch, kick, and use special moves, and some characters can pick up weapons like pipes or knives. The game is known for its difficulty, with enemy patterns that require quick reactions. It feels fast and chaotic, a genuine test of your skills on a small screen.
