Ballz 3D is one of those weird, janky Genesis fighters that somehow works despite itself. You pick a fighter—all of them are just floating spheres with faces—and then you’re immediately thrown into this bizarre 3D arena where you punch, kick, and bounce around like a rubber ball. The physics are… questionable, but in a way that makes every match unpredictable and kinda hilarious.
At first, I thought it was just a gimmick, but there’s actually some strategy here. Different fighters have weird quirks—some bounce higher, others hit harder—and figuring out how to knock your opponent out of the ring before they do the same to you is oddly satisfying. The announcer yelling "BALLZ!" every five seconds never gets old, either.
It’s not polished, it’s not balanced, but it’s definitely memorable. If you’re into retro fighters with personality (and a lot of bouncing), this one’s worth a few rounds.
