Art of Fighting on SNES is one of those old-school fighters that feels like it’s trying to punch through your screen. The sprites are huge—like, comically oversized—and the characters have these wild, exaggerated animations when they pull off special moves. At first, I thought Ryo’s dragon punch looked ridiculous, but after a few matches, it just clicks.

It’s not as fast as Street Fighter, and the controls take a second to get used to, but there’s something satisfying about landing a well-timed desperation move when your health’s flashing red. The energy meter actually depletes when you throw fireballs, which adds this weird layer of strategy—spam too many specials, and suddenly you’re just throwing regular punches like a chump.

Also, the story mode is hilariously dramatic. Every fight starts with these over-the-top cutscenes where characters monologue about honor or revenge. It’s cheesy in the best way possible. If you’re into retro fighters with personality, this one’s a solid pick.
