Okay, so Ariel: The Little Mermaid on Genesis is basically what happens if you take Ecco the Dolphin and give it a Disney makeover. You swim around these maze-like underwater levels, shooting bubbles at crabs and jellyfish while trying to free Ariel’s mermaid friends from Ursula’s curse. The controls are floaty in that classic Ecco way—takes a minute to get used to, but once you do, it’s weirdly satisfying to just glide around.
Some levels have you dodging spikes or sneaking past eels, and there’s even a few hidden areas if you poke around. The music’s got that early ‘90s Disney charm, too—catchy but not annoying. It’s short, sure, but for a licensed game, it’s way better than it had any right to be. Just don’t expect deep lore or anything—you’re here to zap sea creatures and look at pretty colors.
