Okay, so Addams Family: Uncle Fester’s Quest is one of those weird NES games that somehow works despite being kind of janky. You play as Fester, running around with this little lightning gun, blasting mutant townspeople who’ve been turned into monsters. The vibe is equal parts creepy and goofy—like, yeah, you’re fighting giant eyeballs and floating hands, but it’s also got that classic Addams Family dark humor.
The controls take some getting used to—Fester moves like he’s on ice skates half the time—but once you adjust, it’s weirdly satisfying. The levels are packed with hidden doors and shortcuts, and the music? Absolute banger. That graveyard theme still pops into my head randomly.
It’s not the hardest game out there, but some of the enemy placements feel downright mean. And good luck figuring out where to go without a guide—half the time, you’re just shooting walls hoping for a secret passage. Still, if you’re into retro weirdness, it’s a fun little time capsule with a killer aesthetic.
