2020 Toshi Super Baseball is one of those weird, funky takes on baseball that only the '90s could deliver. You pick between humans and robots—each with their own quirks—and then it’s off to a futuristic diamond where the outfield walls are made of glass (good luck hitting a home run). The robots have insane abilities, but the humans get some wild gear to even things out, like jet-powered gloves or something. It’s chaotic in the best way.
First few minutes? You’re either laughing at how overpowered the robot pitcher’s fastball is or scrambling to figure out why your human batter keeps whiffing. The power-ups mid-game add a nice layer of strategy—do you boost your runner’s speed or crank up your pitcher’s curveball? And yeah, the password save system is pure retro pain, but that’s part of the charm.
Originally an arcade and NeoGeo game, the Mega Drive version holds up surprisingly well if you’re into offbeat sports titles. Just don’t expect a sim—this is baseball with the dial turned to 11.
