Zettai Muteki Raijinou is one of those weird, obscure Game Boy titles that makes you pause and go, "Wait, what is this?" At first glance, it looks like a standard side-scrolling action game—you control this little dude with a sword running through levels, slashing enemies. But then the screen suddenly shifts to this top-down view, and now you're dodging projectiles like some kind of mini bullet hell. It's jarring, but in a fun way.
The controls are simple (d-pad and two buttons), but the real challenge is figuring out the rhythm between the two gameplay styles. Sometimes you're hacking through waves of enemies, other times you're carefully weaving between attacks. The music's got that classic Game Boy chiptune energy—grindy bass and punchy percussion. Not gonna lie, the difficulty spikes hard after the first couple stages, but that's part of the charm.
If you're into retro oddities or just want something different from the usual Game Boy lineup, this one's worth a look. Just don't expect it to hold your hand.
