About Yoshi Topsy-turvy (u)(trashman)
Yoshi Topsy-Turvy came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2005, developed by Artoon and published by Nintendo. It arrived late in the GBA's life, a time when developers were experimenting with the hardware in unusual ways. This game was one of those experiments.
You control Yoshi, navigating side scrolling levels to rescue Baby Bowser. The main objective is to progress through stages, defeating enemies and finding items. The signature mechanic is tilting the entire game world by physically turning your GBA; this makes platforms shift, tilts floors to roll eggs, and tips enemies into hazards. You also use Yoshi's signature egg laying and throwing, but the tilt controls everything. The pacing is deliberate, as you must constantly adjust your grip to solve environmental puzzles. It feels like you are physically wrestling with the world to make it cooperate.
