Wing Commander on SNES throws you straight into the deep end—no fancy tutorials, just a quick briefing before you're scrambling to lock onto Kilrathi fighters. The first time I played, I crashed into an asteroid within minutes, but once you get the hang of the controls, weaving through those dogfights feels surprisingly smooth for a 16-bit game.
The pixel art holds up, especially when you're diving through those tight asteroid fields or watching your missiles streak across the screen. And yeah, the story’s cheesy in that classic 90s sci-fi way (your wingmen never shut up), but it’s weirdly charming. Just don’t expect to win every mission on your first try—some of those later battles are brutal.
If you’ve got a soft spot for old-school space sims, this one’s still a blast to revisit.
