Wario Land 4 is one of those GBA games that just oozes personality—like, of course Wario wouldn’t settle for a normal treasure hunt. Instead, you’re diving into these weird, hyper-stylized levels where everything from the music to the enemies feels like it was designed by someone who had too much caffeine. You’ll bounce off springy mushrooms, get flattened into a pancake by traps (which somehow lets you slip through tight spaces?), and chuck enemies at treasure chests just to see what pops out.
The levels all have this cool gimmick where you trigger a countdown after grabbing the key, so you’re suddenly racing back to the start while everything goes haywire. It’s chaotic in the best way, and the soundtrack? Absolute earworms. I still hum some of these tunes years later. If you’ve ever wanted a platformer where the main character is more interested in cash than saving princesses, this is your jam.
