About Super Spike V'ball
Super Spike V'Ball came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Technos Japan. It was part of that wave of sports games trying to capture the fast action of arcades on the home console. You got a two player co-op mode right out of the box, which was a big deal for just hanging out with a friend.
You control a pair of volleyball players on a beach court. The main goal is to win matches by outscoring the computer or another player. Your main actions are serving, bumping, setting, and spiking the ball. The signature mechanics are the super shots; by holding the button, you charge up a powerful spike that's much harder for the opponent to return. The game moves at a quick pace, and the computer opponents get noticeably tougher as you progress through the tournaments. It feels fast and responsive, a straightforward sports game that's easy to pick up but has a bit of depth in its timing.
