Super Robot Taisen D is one of those GBA games that just gets mecha fans. You start off picking pilots from a wild mix of anime—Gundam, Mazinger, Getter Robo—and suddenly you're thrown into these tense, grid-based battles where positioning matters way more than you'd think.
At first, I just spammed attacks, but then I got wrecked by some mid-boss who countered everything. Turns out, timing support attacks and managing energy gauges is half the fun. The sprite work still holds up, too—watching a fully animated Shin Getter Dragon slice through enemies never gets old.
It's got that classic SRW difficulty curve where early missions lull you in, then suddenly you're sweating over turn counts and repair costs. If you dig tactical RPGs or grew up with any of these robot shows, it's a total time sink. Just don't blame me when you lose sleep over "one more mission."
