Super Metroid is already tough, but this "Reverse Boss Order" hack cranks it up to ridiculous levels. You start by fighting Ridley first—yeah, that Ridley—with nothing but your basic pea-shooter and a prayer. The whole game’s been reworked so you can (theoretically) beat bosses in reverse, but good luck pulling it off without glitches, pixel-perfect jumps, and a lot of swearing.
It’s brutal, but weirdly satisfying when you pull off something that shouldn’t be possible, like sneaking into Maridia early with a well-placed bomb jump. The atmosphere’s still perfect—that eerie soundtrack, the way the world feels alive—but now every room’s a potential death trap. If you’ve memorized the original and need a fresh nightmare, this’ll do it.
Just don’t throw your controller when Kraid squashes you for the 20th time.
