Super Metroid - Low Impact is one of those SNES games that just sticks with you. You start off as Samus, landing on this eerie alien planet with nothing but your basic arm cannon, and within minutes you're already lost in these sprawling, atmospheric tunnels. The music creeps in, the enemies skitter around—it’s equal parts tense and mesmerizing.
What I love is how the game doesn’t hold your hand. You’ll bomb random walls, stumble into hidden upgrades, and suddenly realize you can backtrack to that one room you couldn’t reach before. The boss fights? Brutal, but in that satisfying "I finally figured out the pattern" way. And the power-ups—morph ball, screw attack, all that good stuff—feel like real game-changers when you unlock them.
It’s still one of the best examples of how to do exploration right. Even if you’ve played it before, there’s always some corner you missed or a sequence break to try. If you’ve never touched a Metroid game, this is the one to start with.
