Super Chase HQ on SNES is basically what happens when you take an arcade cop chase and cram it into a 16-bit cartridge. You're in a police car weaving through traffic, trying to ram criminals off the road before they hit the city limits. The first time I played, I smashed into like five civilian cars before realizing you actually have to steer.
The cool part? Your car has this turbo boost that makes the screen blur when you hit it—just don't crash mid-boost or you'll spin out spectacularly. The criminals' cars get faster each level, and by stage 3 they're pulling moves that feel borderline illegal (which, I guess, is the point). The siren sound effect still lives rent-free in my head 20 years later.
It's not the deepest racer, but nailing a perfect PIT maneuver on the last second before the timer runs out? That never gets old.
