Man, Spark World on the SNES is one of those games that just oozes charm. You start off in this bright, almost dreamlike world—think rolling green hills with these weird floating crystals everywhere. At first, it feels like a standard platformer, but then you realize half the stuff in the background is interactive. That tree? You can climb it. That waterfall? There’s a secret behind it. And the music? Pure 16-bit magic.
The controls are tight, which is good because some of those jumps get mean later on. Boss fights are where it really shines, though—each one feels like a puzzle where you gotta figure out their pattern before they stomp you into the dirt. I remember getting stuck on the third boss for way too long before realizing you could bounce its own projectiles back at it. Felt like a genius when it finally clicked.
If you’re into retro platformers with a little extra depth, this one’s a no-brainer. Just don’t blame me when you lose track of time hunting down every last hidden gem.
