About Silent Assault
Silent Assault came out in 1990 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, published by Color Dreams. It was part of that wave of NES games that tried to carve out a space with straightforward action concepts, often from smaller studios looking for an audience.
You control a lone soldier, the only person immune to an alien mind control signal that has turned Earth's military against you. Your objective is to fight through eight different worlds, battling both human soldiers and alien creatures across varied landscapes. The game progresses screen by screen; you clear each area of enemies before moving forward. You start with a basic gun, but you can find new weapons by destroying certain enemies, along with power-ups for temporary invincibility or energy restoration. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is steep, with enemies swarming quickly from all directions. Playing it feels like a constant, frantic scramble for survival against overwhelming odds.
