Samurai Zombie Nation is one of those NES games that makes you go, "Wait, what?" the first time you boot it up. You control a giant floating samurai head (yep) that shoots smaller heads at enemies—zombies, tanks, UFOs, you name it. It’s bizarre, borderline unhinged, and somehow still weirdly satisfying.
The difficulty spikes hard after the first couple stages, so don’t expect to breeze through. The hit detection is janky, the controls take some getting used to, and the whole thing feels like it was designed by someone who had too much coffee. But that’s part of the charm. If you’re into obscure, punishing NES games, this one’s a trip—just maybe not a long one. I usually tap out after a few levels.
Oh, and good luck finding a physical copy. This thing’s rare as heck.
