If you've ever played Darius on the Game Boy, you already know what Sagaia On GB is—same game, different name (thanks to some weird licensing back in the day). It's a stripped-down but still solid port of the arcade shooter, and honestly, it holds up better than you'd expect for a tiny green-screen space battle.
You start off with this dinky little ship that feels way too slow at first, but after a few upgrades, you're weaving through bullet patterns and blasting alien fish-mech hybrids. Yeah, the enemies are these weird biomechanical sea creatures—totally random, but it works. The branching paths between levels are a nice touch, too—pick your route based on how much punishment you're ready for.
It's tough, no lie. You'll probably eat a cheap death or two from off-screen enemies, but that's just how these old shooters rolled. The music’s got that classic Game Boy chiptune grit, and the bosses take up half the screen. If you’re into retro shooters, this one’s worth a few credits.
