Rygar on NES is one of those weirdly cool action-adventure games from the '80s that doesn’t play like anything else. You start off swinging this weird diskarmor (basically a shield with a chain) at monsters, and the controls take a second to get used to—but once it clicks, smashing enemies feels oddly satisfying.
It’s way different from the arcade version, which is more of a straight-up brawler. The NES one mixes platforming with light RPG elements, like upgrading your gear and exploring this big, kinda-open world. The music’s got that classic chiptune vibe too—haunting and catchy at the same time.
Fair warning: it’s tough as nails in spots, but figuring out where to go next is half the fun. You’ll probably die a lot before you get the hang of it.
