Robo Warrior on NES is one of those weird little gems that feels like a mix between Bomberman and Zelda—if Zelda had a robot protagonist who drops bombs instead of swinging a sword. You start off in this maze-like base, planting explosives to clear paths while dodging enemies that pop out of nowhere. The controls take a second to get used to (why does the B button feel so far away?), but once you get the rhythm of planting and retreating, it’s oddly satisfying.
Fair warning: the difficulty spikes hard after the first few levels. One wrong move and you’re backtracking through half the stage. Still, there’s something addictive about figuring out the perfect bomb placement to unlock the next area without blowing yourself up in the process. The music’s got that classic NES charm too—simple but weirdly catchy.
If you’re into old-school puzzle-action hybrids, this one’s worth a few tries. Just don’t blame me when you get stuck on level 3 for an hour.
