About Renegade
Renegade came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, developed by Technos Japan. It was part of that early wave of NES games where brawling on city streets became a popular theme, sitting alongside titles like Double Dragon.
You control a street fighter moving through urban locations like subway platforms and parking lots. Your goal is to defeat all the gang members in each fixed screen area to rescue your kidnapped girlfriend. The combat relies on a few key moves: a basic punch, a jumping kick, and a crucial grapple that lets you throw enemies to the ground. Since the screen does not scroll, every fight is a contained brawl against multiple opponents who will surround and grab you. The game is fast and difficult, demanding quick reactions to avoid being pinned down. It feels raw and immediate, like a short, brutal street fight where every hit matters.
