Ranma on SNES is basically the anime chaos you'd expect—martial arts, gender-swapping curses, and a whole lot of punching. You pick from the usual suspects from the manga, and yeah, you can finally play as anyone in single-player or versus mode, which is nice if you’ve got a friend who insists they’re better at video games than you.
The fights play out in side-scrolling stages, and it’s all about timing your basic combos, pulling off special moves (those classic quarter-circle motions), and waiting for that sweet moment when your health flashes so you can unleash a super. The moves feel a little stiff compared to something like Street Fighter, but there’s something satisfying about landing Ranma’s signature attacks—especially when you’ve just dodged a bucket of water mid-fight.
It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but if you’re into the series, it’s a fun way to throw down as your favorite characters.
