Puchi Carat is this weird little gem on the Game Boy Color that mashes up Breakout with anime charm. You’ve got these tiny, super-deformed characters cheering you on as you bounce a ball to smash blocks—kinda like Arkanoid, but with way more personality. The blocks form these cute little patterns, and every stage has its own theme music that’s way catchier than it has any right to be.
At first, I thought it was just another brick-breaker, but the paddle controls are surprisingly tight, and some stages throw in power-ups that mix things up (though good luck figuring out what half of them do at first). The anime aesthetic is pure late-’90s Japan—big eyes, tiny bodies, and way too much enthusiasm. It’s short, but weirdly satisfying if you’re into this kind of thing.
