Power Spike Game

Power Spike on Game Boy Color is one of those weirdly satisfying sports games that shouldn’t work as well as it does. You’ve got this simple volleyball setup—just two players, a net, and chunky pixel graphics—but the controls are surprisingly tight. Took me a few serves to get the timing down, but once you nail that perfect spike, it’s stupidly satisfying.
The AI starts off easy, then suddenly starts reading your moves like a mind reader. I lost way too many matches before realizing you’ve gotta mix up your shots—drop shots work better than you’d think. And yeah, the colors pop in that classic GBC way, all bright and slightly oversaturated. Not exactly a deep sim, but perfect for quick sessions when you just wanna smash a ball at someone’s face.
Still holds up if you dig that late-90s handheld vibe.
