Power Soukoban is one of those classic Japanese puzzle games that looks simple at first—just push blocks around to clear a path—but gets brutal fast. The SNES version has this weirdly charming, slightly clunky aesthetic, like someone took a basic Sokoban clone and cranked up the difficulty while adding these odd little power-ups. You start thinking, "Oh, this’ll be easy," and then five levels in, you’re sweating over a single mis-pushed crate.
What I like is how it doesn’t hold your hand. No tutorials, no hints—just you, a grid, and some very stubborn boxes. The music’s oddly cheerful for how frustrating it gets, which somehow makes it harder to rage quit. If you’re into retro puzzle games that punish you in the best way, this one’s a solid time-waster. Just don’t blame me when you get stuck on level 12 for an hour.
